Dissent and more: 3 things to watch for at the Fed meeting
Oriental Credit Rating: The Federal Reserve still has the possibility of continuing to raise interest rates in 2027.
According to CoinWorld news, Oriental Jincheng stated that the Federal Reserve's hawkish stance at its October meeting has not faded. Two voting committee members advocated continuing to raise interest rates, among them Governor Cook, previously regarded as a centrist, cast a dissenting vote for the first time, indicating that tolerance for inflation risks within the Fed has further declined, though most committee members chose to observe the effects of policy after the September rate hike, with monetary policy entering a phase of prudent observation and discretionary decision-making. Looking ahead, with international oil prices running high combined with sticky core inflation, there is a relatively high probability that the Fed will raise rates by another 25 basis points at its December meeting, with the benchmark rate expected to be lifted to the 4.00% to 4.25% range, and there remains the possibility of further rate hikes in 2027.
Developers embed a 32-bit CPU into Qwen weights: large models run computer programs directly internally
According to news from Bijie, independent developer Divyansh Agrawal developed Qwenputer based on Alibaba's Qwen 3.5-4B, embedding a 32-bit RISC-V virtual CPU into the model weights so that the large model can perform precise calculations without calling external tools. The virtual CPU can run compiled C programs and has passed RISC-V instruction tests, executing approximately 18 million instructions cumulatively without errors being found. In DeepMind's 40 large-number multiplication problems, Qwenputer answered 39 correctly, while the original Qwen answered 22 correctly. Although the CPU can execute instructions accurately, the large model may still make errors when invoking or outputting results. This technical approach has precedents; in March of this year, Percepta used a neural network to implement a virtual computer capable of running C programs. Qwenputer connects similar computational capability to the already-trained Qwen, allowing the language model to use an internal CPU when generating responses. However, this solution is relatively inefficient, with the model file size reaching 18.8GB, about twice that of the original version, and its computation speed is also inferior to external tools.
Kalshi's October trading volume reached $65 billion, with Polymarket US hitting a new high.
According to Biji.com, Kalshi's trading volume reached approximately $65 billion in October, 10% higher than September's record. Meanwhile, Polymarket US also reached $10 billion in trading volume, exceeding its previous monthly total by about 15%. Both broke their respective monthly trading records ahead of the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, demonstrating the rapid expansion of prediction markets in the United States. Kalshi also reported a record level of open interest, with Kalshi accounting for $2.05 billion and Polymarket US at $384 million. Together, the two regulated U.S. exchanges generated 95.6% of the activity across the three major platforms.
