Ethereum's Glamsterdam test upgrade approaches 200 million gas per block.

CoinWorld data: Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade is running on a public test network, with a processing budget more than three times larger than before, aiming to provide more payment and transaction space for the blockchain. The upgrade was activated on Sepolia on Tuesday, with developers testing token software that carries no real value. By early Thursday, the block gas limit was close to 200 million, up from about 60 million before the change. Gas measures the computational work required to process transactions. A CoinDesk review of 25 consecutive test blocks found that each used about 52 million to 92 million gas, accounting for roughly 26% to 46% of the available budget. During Thursday's voting period, 32 planned blocks were proposed, and 99.97% of eligible testnet stake voted in favor of finalization, with the network treating its transaction history as settled.

Fed rate hike probability drops to 18%, rate cut probability at 0%: impact on Bitcoin

CoinWorld data: The probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike on October 28 has dropped to 18.3%, due to weak employment and inflation data. The probability of a rate cut is 0%, so keeping rates unchanged is the base case. Nevertheless, keeping rates unchanged does not mean the market will breathe a sigh of relief. The Federal Reserve raised rates in September, the first hike since 2023, and a December hike is still under consideration. Analysts believe that keeping rates unchanged may remove one threat facing Bitcoin's price, but the risk of a rate hike still remains.
