Ripple expands Brevan Howard deal with prime brokerage services

Ripple Prime will provide prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by the $35 billion alternative investment manager. Ripple Prime will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by Brevan Howard, a global investment manager with about $35 billion in assets. Under the expanded agreement, Brevan Howard will gain access to Ripple Prime’s services across traditional and digital asset markets, according to a Tuesday announcement. The deal builds on an existing relationship between the firms. Brevan Howard-affiliated funds participated in a $500 million investment in Ripple in 2025 that valued the company at $40 billion. “As digital and traditional markets become more interconnected, the need for institutional-quality digital asset infrastructure that enables a seamless experience for investors is only growing,” Brevan Howard chief operating officer Alan McGroarty said. The investment manager serves global clients including sovereign wealth funds, corporate and public pension plans, foundations and endowments. The agreement comes as Ripple expands its prime brokerage business. In August, Ripple Prime raised $275 million through a senior note offering to fund its expansion into prime brokerage, financing and multi-asset clearing. Ripple launched the business after acquiring prime broker Hidden Road for about $1.25 billion in 2025. Magazine: Too big to pause: Could an AI slowdown crash the economy?

Kalshi wins preliminary injunction in Illinois, sports contracts may be federally regulated swaps

Coin World News reports that prediction market platform Kalshi won a partial preliminary injunction in an Illinois lawsuit, with the court ruling that sports championship contracts may qualify as federally regulated swaps. Judge Martha M. Pacold of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois ruled that the state's sports betting licensing regime and related criminal provisions may be preempted by federal law and cannot currently be enforced against Kalshi. The court did not rule on Illinois's newly established prediction market fees, which impose a 1.75% fee on the first 5 million related transactions on an exchange and 3.5% thereafter, plus a 15% gross revenue fee and a 25 or 50 cent fee per transaction. The court asked the parties to submit supplemental briefs on the fee issue.

Bitcoin's price lags behind the record highs of the S&P 500 and Nasdaq.

CoinWorld data: Although the S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit record highs on October 6, 2026, Bitcoin's price lagged, falling back to the $85,000 range. Bitcoin has remained within this range for the past two weeks. Typically, Bitcoin is closely correlated with the price movements of these risk assets, but this time it failed to move in sync. Analysts pointed out that the current strong performance of the U.S. stock market is related to the decline in bond yields, with the 10-year Treasury yield having dropped to about 5.26%. At the same time, Brent crude oil prices also fell below $100 per barrel, easing inflation pressure. Asset management company 21Shares said that if Bitcoin closes above $88,000 this month, it will confirm a trend change; if it falls to $81,000, it may decline further to $71,300.
