More →Google Quietly Updates Privacy Policy to Let Gmail and Photos Data Feed Ads
Google has carved out an exception to its long-standing promise not to use Gmail, Drive, and Google Photos content for advertising, quietly revising its >privacy policy so that data from those apps can help personalize ads when users connect it to the company’s AI features. The change, which took effect Oct. 16 and was first spotted by >Android Authority, adds a conditional clause to a pledge Google has made for years. The updated policy now reads that Google doesn’t show personalized ads based on content from Drive, Gmail, or Google Photos “unless you choose to make data from these services available to other Google services that support personalized ads.” The catch hinges on Personal Intelligence, Google’s push to make its AI tools more useful by letting features like AI Mode in Search and Gemini draw on a user’s own data. Connecting Gmail, Drive or Photos to those tools delivers more tailored answers, such as surfacing a hotel reservation buried in an inbox. But under the revised wording, that same connected data can now also inform which ads a person sees. Google stressed the limits. Content from the three services still isn’t used for ad targeting by default, advertisers don’t get access to the contents of anyone’s Gmail, Drive or Photos, and the company says it won’t share personally identifying details without permission. In practice, that means Google isn’t scanning private emails and photos wholesale to sell ads, but users who opt into its AI conveniences may be trading some ad privacy for them. Users can opt out by disconnecting the apps under Connected Content apps in their Google Account’s Data & privacy settings, or by turning off personalized recommendations, though Android Authority noted that previously collected data may linger in a user’s Search history even after disconnecting. The quiet rollout echoes recent Google privacy posturing around its AI ambitions. As Decrypt reported in May, Google’s Chrome browser began >silently installing a multi-gigabyte on-device AI model on users’ computers, and separately removed a privacy claim tied to its >Gemini Nano model, both moves that drew scrutiny over how the company handles user data as it races to embed AI across its products. Start every day with the top news stories right now, plus original features, a podcast, videos and more.
Fed decision week: key economic data and corporate earnings due
BiJie Network data: A series of important economic events will take place this week, especially the Federal Reserve's decision week. The Fed already raised rates last month and will make another decision this Wednesday, with headline PCE inflation expected to reach 3.6%, nearly twice its 2% target. In addition, companies with a combined market capitalization of more than $10 trillion, including Microsoft, Google parent Alphabet, and Amazon, will release earnings within 30 hours, and Coinbase and MicroStrategy will also report on Thursday. On Friday, about $11 billion in Bitcoin options will expire. The market expects a 90% probability that the Fed will keep rates unchanged. If the PCE data comes in hot, it will raise the likelihood of a rate hike in December; otherwise, it will lower it.
IOSG: As crypto narratives fade, capital shifts toward trading and stablecoins.
According to a CoinWorld report, IOSG Ventures observed at KBW and Token2049 that enthusiasm in the crypto industry has not noticeably disappeared, but the participants and the direction of capital are changing: traditional finance is accelerating its entry into trading, custody, stablecoins, and tokenization infrastructure, while native capital is flowing more toward trading venues such as perp DEXs and prediction markets. Although AI agents became a focal point at both conferences, actual trading volume remains limited, and capital is paying more attention to AI products that already have revenue and buyback mechanisms. Overall, the market is gradually shifting from being driven by narratives and new coins toward revenue, distribution channels, and real trading demand.
The conflict in Yemen intensifies, and both the Saudi and Egyptian stock markets decline.
Saudi and Egyptian stock markets fell on Sunday after the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted multiple drones and missiles over Riyadh and southern Saudi Arabia amid escalating conflict with Yemen's Houthi forces. Under broad selling pressure, Saudi Arabia's benchmark index (TASI) dropped 2.6%, marking its worst intraday performance since April 2025, with heavyweight Saudi Aramco falling 1.1%. Outside the Gulf region, Egypt's blue-chip index (EGX30) plunged 2.5%, approaching its lowest level in about seven months, with all constituent stocks declining. Egypt's parliament is expected to vote on October 26 on whether to authorize the armed forces to provide support, at Saudi Arabia's request, in its conflict with Yemen's Houthi forces.

Jiang Zhuoer: Ethereum will benefit from the value of RWA
According to a report from Bijie.com, Jiang Zhuoer, founder of LTC Mining Pool, responded to the reason for only holding ETH this round, stating that RWA is where blockchain's most important social value lies, and Ethereum will directly benefit from this trend. He believes that Bitcoin's biggest risk is not a quantum attack, but the lack of actual usage demand. As global capital such as U.S. stocks enters the crypto market, Bitcoin's future upside potential may gradually shrink. If long-term returns cannot outperform the Nasdaq, coin holders may continue to exit, turning the previously price-driven demand for holding coins into a negative cycle. The Q-Day when quantum computing attacks become a reality in the future may become the turning point for Bitcoin from prosperity to decline.
