US community banks sue federal banking regulator to overturn crypto trust charter
Coin World News: The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) has sued the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in federal court, seeking to overturn rules that allow crypto companies to obtain national trust bank charters. The ICBA accuses the OCC of violating the law, arguing that these crypto companies neither accept deposits nor primarily act as fiduciaries. The lawsuit was filed on October 2 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and names the OCC and Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan Gould as defendants. According to ICBA statistics, during Trump's term, the OCC has granted full or conditional approval to 21 trust banks, at least 13 of which are crypto companies. ICBA President and CEO Rebecca Romero Rainey said in a statement: "The OCC has allowed companies to obtain national trust bank charters to conduct substantial non-fiduciary activities, exceeding the authority Congress granted to the agency."

S&P made clear that the VRA is not a credit rating, nor an assessment of investors' expected returns, but rather focuses on the likelihood that capital in a position may suffer losses.
