Eurozone manufacturing continues its recovery momentum, with growth hitting the fastest pace in over four years.

Eurozone manufacturing continued its recovery momentum in September, with growth reaching its fastest pace in more than four years. The S&P Global Eurozone Manufacturing PMI rose for a third consecutive month, climbing to 52.9 in September from 52.7 in August, the highest level since May 2022. Chris Williamson, Chief Business Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said the rebound was driven by growing demand for investment goods such as machinery and equipment, with output growth in these capital goods reaching levels not seen since the post-pandemic economic rebound five years ago, particularly reflecting rising demand for AI and defense-related equipment. New order growth was the fastest since early 2022, partly helped by export growth, which reached its highest level in more than four and a half years. The output sub-index rose to 53.6, a 55-month high, pushing business confidence to its highest level since February. However, rising prices could threaten this recovery momentum, with inflation expected to rise to 3.6% in September from 3.2% in August.

A Manhattan court in the United States is hearing the Uranium Finance attack case, involving $53 million.

According to CoinWorld news, the U.S. federal court in Manhattan has begun hearing the case of the approximately $53 million attack on Uranium Finance. Prosecutors allege that Maryland cybersecurity consultant Jonathan Spalletta exploited a vulnerability in the DeFi protocol's smart contract in 2021, and in a second attack obtained about $53.3 million from 26 liquidity pools, ultimately causing Uranium Finance to shut down due to insufficient funds. The U.S. Department of Justice previously alleged that Spalletta subsequently laundered the funds through methods such as Tornado Cash and purchased collectibles including rare Pokémon cards, Magic: The Gathering cards, and ancient Roman gold coins, among which was also a fragment of the original Wright brothers' aircraft fabric that had once been carried to the moon by Neil Armstrong.

Solana staking protocol Marinade discloses vulnerability in DAO voting process

According to news from Bijie, the Solana staking protocol Marinade disclosed that on September 25, an attacker exploited a vulnerability in the DAO voting procedure to have a small amount of MNDE counted as voting power far exceeding its actual amount, and submitted two malicious proposals: one forged "MIP-23" in an attempt to replace the voting procedure, and the other attempted to transfer DAO treasury funds. Marinade stated that MNDE holders had already outvoted the two proposals at the time, and the DAO Council exercised its veto power within about 6 hours, still nearly 4 days before the proposals could be executed, so no funds were transferred, and mSOL, Native Staking, and SAM were all unaffected. The team has deployed a temporary fix to prevent voting power inflation and will continue to roll out a permanent code fix and stricter protection mechanisms for sensitive proposals.

A U.S. court has rejected the claims of 9 fraud victims over 127,271 BTC.

According to Cryptoslate, Judge Rachel Kovner of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York has dismissed claims by nine alleged fraud victims to approximately 127,271 seized BTC. Two applications that were submitted on time were withdrawn, while the overdue applications of the other seven individuals were rejected. The court held that these applicants failed to reasonably demonstrate a direct connection between their lost funds and the specific seized BTC wallets, and therefore lacked legal standing to challenge the asset forfeiture. The U.S. Department of Justice previously stated that this batch of BTC is related to an alleged fraud and money laundering case involving Cambodia's Prince Holding Group and its chairman, Chen Zhi. The court noted that the aforementioned victims can, at most, be regarded as ordinary unsecured creditors. If the government ultimately succeeds in forfeiting the assets, they may still apply for compensation through the DOJ's victim compensation process, but whether they will receive compensation and the proportion thereof are not guaranteed. This ruling itself does not ultimately confirm the asset forfeiture.
